quiet

Day 21 Prompt: “Write a poem that ends with the word ‘quiet’.”

quiet
the voices are too loud
they like to scream in the silences
when everyone’s around
the loneliness within a crowd
is one that’s all too real
the kind that wakes the night
and gives room for wounds to feel
they yell to stop pretending
to take off this façade
you can try to fix the broken
but the faux is always flawed
you can will away the problems
pretend they don’t exist
but ignore the pleading voices
and the voices just persist
sometimes you don’t need solace
you just want the noise to stop
a moment spent in solitary
to be alone with thought
quiet
