alive and warm

Day 11 Prompt: “Use an ending line from a previous poem to begin a new poem.”

we are alive and warm
between flash bulbs and flash floods
where closet is more than an enclosed space
lifeline can be twisted into the deadliest of knots
we hang onto the edges we’ve been shoved off of
whispers cut deep
void cuts deeper
the blood that runs reminds us
we are alive and warm
in moments that test our mortality
